Nourishment for the Skin
Meadow foam oil received its name because of its resemblance while in bloom to the white foam of the ocean. The oil is made from the cold pressing of the seeds of the plant Limananthes alba, originally a native of Southern California, Oregon & British Columbia and now grown in New Zealand.
It has wonderful moisturising, softening and rejuvenating properties. When applied to the skin meadowfoam oil forms a moisture barrier and prevents moisture loss. It has high anti-oxidant properties. Meadowfoam oil is especially good for dry, chapped or damaged skin and skin exposed to the elements, hence its use in our luscious orange and honey lip balm.
Nourishment for the Soul
How often have we seen a bee without appreciating its wonderful gift to the world? Apart from playing a vital role in the delicate balance of our ecosystem, bees are symbolic creatures.
In times past the cultivation of honey was a sacred ritual associated with the mother goddess, whose nurturing protection of mankind was symbolised by the abundance of honey provided by the bees.
Bees have signified hard work, industriousness, teamwork, perseverance, charity, selflessness and constancy. In many cultures bees are a symbol of hope. The bee and its honey have long been regarded as inspirational. Poets and singers of old were said to have been touched “by the spirit of the bee.” Aphrodite worshipped bees as her sacred creatures because they understood how to create the perfect hexagons in their honey comb. Hippocrates was the first to recognise the healing power of honey for wounds, sores and burns.
“Handle a book as a bee does a flower, extract its sweetness but do not damage it.” John Muir

Care of the Soul
Butterflies have a wonder, beauty and grace about them. They are a symbol of transformation because of the inspiring metamorphosis they undergo. Their life cycle is about a month- from egg to larvae, to pupa and then the emergence of the beautiful butterfly.
This then is the lesson of the butterfly, to accept changes and transitions in our life as gracefully and effortlessly as the butterfly does. This acceptance is also symbolic of faith. In many cultures the butterfly is associated with the soul, Christianity also sees the butterfly as a soulful sign. Butterflies are associated with transition, celebration, grace, eloquence, joy and lightness.
“The butterfly counts not months but moments and has time enough.” Rabindranath Tagore
Lemon Essential Oil
The wonderful, fresh, zesty fragrance of lemon makes it one of my favourite oils. It helps to uplift the spirit and induces positive emotions. It stimulates the mind and increases concentration and is also psychologically strengthening.
Essential oil of lemon is also good for removing sticky labels from bottles etc.
Use this blend when you need to uplift your spirits or energy levels. To create the blend – place 2 Tbs of carrier oil such as grapeseed, sweet almond, sunflower etc. in a dark coloured bottle. Add 10 drops each of essential oil of lemon, orange, grapefruit and peppermint. Shake gently before using.
Remove the top and breathe in deeply for a few minutes, or place several drops on a tissue & hold to nose.
